Supporting SAAS

SAAS Vehicle Movements

Want to see a bit of more of South Australia? The SAASROA Driver Group may be of interest. (Available to FULL SAASROA MEMBERS ONLY)

Ever thought it would be great to get back behind the wheel of an ambulance occasionally? Well you can, and see a bit more of the state without costing you anything.

One of the ways that the Association helps SAAS is moving ambulances around the state.

The Association Driver Group has been doing this work for SAAS now for a few years and it has turned out to be a huge success. Not only does it help SAAS, but more importantly, it gives you retired guys the opportunity to still feel part of the ambulance family and put some of their spare time to good use. I bet there are still many of you that miss being part of the Service. Well here is the opportunity to stay in touch, but without the pressure, and perhaps see parts of the state you have never seen.

Movements take place to and from all points of the state – Mount Gambier to Ceduna to Roxby Downs and all points in between. And on many occasions you can take your partner with you.

You will be provided with a corporate uniform and undertake some basic training which should be a piece of cake, with the experience you have had.

Think about it – and if you are interested contact Ken Jenkins, Driver Group Coordinator

Community Engagement Awards

SAASROA offer two awards annually – one for a volunteer member and one for a career staff member.

They will be known as the SA Ambulance Service Retired Officers’ Community Engagement Awards and will recognise outstanding contribution by a volunteer and staff member who have shown, through their actions and initiative, how the community has benefited. The awards will be presented at the SAAS Presentation and Graduation Ceremony towards the end of each year.

These awards were announced  in SAASScene magazine (reproduced with permission) with Steve Simmonds being the inaugural winner
